Fighting for a Plastic-Free Ocean

Plastic production has become a crisis for our ocean and coastal communities. More than 18 million microplastics can be released in just one single load of laundry. Half of the plastics ever manufactured have been made in the last 20 years alone.

We must act now, or plastic production and consumption will be on track to double in the next decade.

States across the country have introduced bills that aim to eliminate harmful single-use plastics from our everyday activities, reduce plastic production at the source, allow for reusable and refillable food containers and more. With ocean advocates like YOU pushing for policies that will reduce plastic production and use—and hold plastic producers responsible and accountable—we can pass critical legislation and protect our ocean and the wildlife and communities that depend on it.

Call on your state’s elected officials to support and pass legislation to reduce the amount of plastic pollution entering our ocean every day.
