Make a Promise to the Planet 🌎

The new year isn’t the only time we can make resolutions: this Earth Day, renew your commitment to caring for our planet by committing to five key ways you can take action and help our ocean see a better tomorrow. Just remember five letters:

“E.A.R.T.H.”

This Earth Day, I will:

EDUCATE myself and others on the issues our ocean faces today.

To stand up for our ocean, we must first know and understand what the greatest threats to its existence currently are. Dive into Ocean Conservancy's website not only to learn about these problems but also the solutions we’re working toward every day to solve them.

ADVOCATE for solutions to our ocean’s greatest challenges.

Every voice counts in the fight to protect our ocean. Nothing will change if we don’t voice our concerns, so be sure to visit our Action Center for all the latest ways you can actively advocate, from writing to your state representatives to signing petitions to help our ocean’s precious wildlife.

RESOLVE to make more ocean-friendly daily choices.

There are lots of small changes you can make to lessen your negative impact on our planet and ocean. Opt for reusable alternatives to single-use products, and pick up any trash you see while outdoors. These may seem like small changes, but many people doing little things adds up to a huge impact!

TREAT our ocean and all its wildlife with respect.

When visiting beaches and coastlines, remember that these areas are the home of many wonderfully diverse native wildlife species. Show these treasured creatures you respect them by keeping a respectful distance and reporting any stranded, injured or otherwise threatened animals to trained personnel.

HELP out in your community by getting involved in local cleanups.

Volunteering is one of the best ways to join the movement for a healthier ocean. Join the movement by saving the date for this year’s International Coastal Cleanup® on September 16th and downloading the Clean Swell® app.
