The Endangered Species Act was passed 50 years ago to safeguard endangered and threatened species and their habitats both in our ocean and on land. In the last half-century, this critical law has helped preserve countless species and save them from extinction.
But now, the Endangered Species Act is under threat in Congress. The so-called America's Wildlife Habitat Conservation Act masquerades as wildlife conservation legislation when in actuality it instead works to revoke funding from critical conservation programs—and seeks to weaken the Endangered Species Act by tightening the definition of "critical habitat" under the law.
Any rollbacks to this legislation would quite literally be deadly. Call on your elected officials to protect the Endangered Species Act and safeguard endangered and threatened animals and their habitats before it’s too late.
