Earlier this year, just before the start of the annual red snapper fishing season, the Department of Commerce issued an illegal and short-sighted decision to let private recreational fishermen in the Gulf of Mexico overfish red snapper.
Ocean Conservancy obtained documents that prove the government knew what they were doing was illegal and knew that their actions would result in overfishing that would affect fish and fishermen for years to come. But, they did it anyway!
Will you take action and speak up for healthy fisheries?
Tell your members of Congress that we need to chart a course for real sustainability, better data, successful rebuilding, stable and profitable fishing businesses and good days on the water for generations to come.
