We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to tackle one of the biggest threats facing our ocean: plastic pollution. The international legally binding instrument (ILBI) on plastic pollution, commonly referred to as the global plastics treaty, offers an incredible chance to forge a new future where communities, our ocean and our planet are free of the most polluting plastics.
Yet, the current proposals for the plastics treaty do not demonstrate the level of ambition we need to tackle this crisis. Without bold action now, we know this crisis will only get worse. We must urge negotiators to shape a stronger, more ambitious agreement.
