This act will authorize the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Coastal Program in perpetuity and provide consistent funding for coastal habitats like mangroves, seagrass and wetlands. These habitats provide homes for fish, shellfish, birds and other animals and play a critical role in buffering storm surges, minimizing sea level rise, and preventing flooding and coastal erosion.
With increasing pressures from sea level rise, extreme storm events, land development, pollution and habitat fragmentation, this program is more important than ever. Say thank you to Congress for helping to protect our coastal communities for generations to come.
