The science is clear: Marine biodiversity is rapidly declining due to climate change, overfishing, habitat destruction and pollution—including plastics and harmful chemicals.
Fortunately, a new bill, the Aquatic Biodiversity Preservation Act, is aimed to identify and protect genetic variation among marine species. This critical research will help us understand the threats these species are facing and fuel conservation efforts to protect our coasts and its vibrant marine life.
Our ocean is changing more rapidly than ever before in the face of extreme weather events, and so it is more important than ever that we have new tools to help us adapt to these growing threats. Urge swift action from Congress to pass this important piece of legislation.
