Oil Spills Are Preventable

For far too long, the fossil fuel industry has conducted drilling operations in our ocean, and we've seen the devastating consequences. Offshore oil and gas development fuels harmful climate change and warming waters, hurts marine life and our coastal communities with its inevitable oil spills and litters the ocean floor with countless miles of abandoned pipelines. Adding insult to injury, offshore oil operators sometimes leave YOU, the taxpayer, with the bill to clean up their mess.

The Trump administration recently announced a drastic expansion of new offshore oil and gas lease sales over the next five years, including in areas where oil and gas development has never taken place. Right now, the plan is in draft form, and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has invited the public to share their opinions.
