Turn July into Plastic Pollution Action Month
U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX-37) have introduced a resolution to designate July as Plastic Pollution Action Month, and we need your help to spread the word.
More than a garbage truck’s worth of trash enters our ocean every minute of every day, but together, we’re leading efforts to reduce how much plastic is produced in the first place—and to clean up our beaches, waterways and ocean. Our award-winning peer-reviewed research found that ingesting less than three sugar cubes of plastic can kill a seabird, and just 12 single-use plastic grocery bags can kill 1 in 2 marine mammals, like sperm whales.
Right now, Congress is considering a resolution that would designate the month of July as Plastic Pollution Action Month. Let’s make July a month when we all come together to power the movement for a healthy ocean and thriving planet, forever and for everyone.
We need to see action at all levels, from our homes to our Capitol, to solve the plastics crisis. Add your name and encourage your elected leaders to sign on and designate July 2026 as Plastic Pollution Action Month.
