Pass the Offshore Leasing Standards and Accountability Act
A recent government report found that roughly 4,000 wells and 800 platforms aging in our ocean are approaching or past the end of their useful lives, leaving behind corroding equipment and leaking pipelines.
Introduced by Representative Dave Min (D-CA-47),as well as Senators Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Alex Padilla (D-CA),the Offshore Leasing Standards and Accountability Act would require oil and gas companies to set aside funds to decommission their wells, platforms, and pipelines when the time comes. No more loopholes. No more leaving taxpayers with the bill. No more abandoned infrastructure rusting on the seafloor.
The time is now. Tell Congress to pass the Offshore Lea sing Standards and Accountability Act.
