In 2025 alone, Ocean Conservancy International Coastal Cleanup® volunteers collected more than 1.3 million plastic bottles and nearly 860,000 caps from beaches and waterways worldwide—preventing this single-use plastic pollution from entering our ocean and harming or even killing wildlife.
Congress introduced the Rewarding Efforts to Decrease Unrecycled Contaminants in Ecosystems (REDUCE) Act, which would incentivize companies to reduce the amount of new plastics they produce by establishing a per-pound fee on virgin plastics for single-use items like bottles, bags, packaging and takeaway containers.
