Every year, an estimated 8 million metric tons of plastic waste pours into our ocean. Wildlife are entangled. Beaches are polluted. And coastal communities are being cost hundreds of millions of dollars to try to combat the problem. Scientists are now warning that without global commitment to finding solutions, there will be more plastic than fish in our ocean by 2050. Let that sink in. We’ll no longer have an ocean of wildlife, but an ocean of plastic with wildlife fighting to survive.
But it’s not too late. It’s the choices we make every day that can help stem the tide of plastic pollution. Take the pledge today: promise our ocean that as often as you can, you’ll say “no thanks” to single-use plastics, and commit to making mindful choices for the sake of marine wildlife. There’s so much we can do to reduce the flow of trash into our ocean. Together, we can stem the tide!
Are you in? Our ocean is counting on you!
