Speak Up to Protect Our Changing Ocean
Our ocean is changing, and getting busier by the day. We need smart planning to help manage it all. There is a new piece of ocean friendly legislation moving through the halls of Congress. The bill supports regional ocean planning efforts and will also help ensure smart ocean planning receives the funding it needs to be successful.

The Regional Ocean Partnership Act is making its way through Congress with bipartisan support in both the House and Senate. The bill seeks to enable Regional Ocean Partnerships (ROPs) to receive federal funding to conduct scientific research, improve coastal resilience, and address conservation and restoration management challenges unique to each region. If this piece of legislation becomes law, it would solidify Regional Ocean Partnerships’ role as collaborative partners with federal agencies and help to secure more predictable funding to further advance collaborative, regional ocean efforts.
Take action! Your members of Congress need to hear that their constituents support this legislation. Will you join us in speaking up today?
Communities across the world enjoy the ocean for the beauty it provides and depend on the ocean for their livelihood. Commercial fishermen harvest fish from the sea and renewable energy developers harness the power of the ocean’s wind. Surfers ride the waves near shore and boaters take in the beauty of our marine life while on scuba trips and whale watching tours. But if we don’t plan correctly, conflicting uses can quickly impact local communities and harm the environment.
You can help get this bill passed by contacting your representatives in Congress and asking for their support!
We’re working to ensure that our ocean, one of the greatest natural assets in the world, is protected and the communities that depend on it continue to thrive. Smart ocean planning is nothing short of revolutionary, but we need your support.
